As Per The Latest Media Reports, IPL 2020 Will Happen This Year

IPL 2020: As per the latest media report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided that the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) will not be held in April-May due to the massive outbreak of Coronavirus. Instead, the board will try to accommodate the tournament in the month of September/October.

As per a report published on Sportskeeda, a top IPL official has said that cancellation is a “distant dream” and the BCCI is positive to stage the thirteen edition of the Indian Premier League later this year.

“Cancellation is a distant dream. The board is positive to stage IPL at some point later this year,” a top IPL official was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.com.

As per the source, the BCCI will try to stage the IPL 2020 when the COVID-19 situation is totally under control.

“Ideally, it won’t look good if BCCI makes Rs 3,500 crore for not hosting the event. The board will try to stage the event at some point when the covid-19 is controlled completely,” Sportskeeda’s source added.

Sportskeeda’s source also added that IPL 2020 can’t happen without overseas cricketers.

“Who will issue visas for foreign cricketers? If at all India is risk-free to host the IPL, how will IPL happen without foreigners?” a franchisee official stated.

The source, however, added that it will not be a full-fledged season of IPL.

“There could a truncated IPL before the World T20, and that too only if all is well,” the source added.
