IPL 2020: Virat Kohli Says He Is “Very Happy” With The New RCB Squad

IPL 2020: Virat Kohli Says He Is “Very Happy” With The New RCB Squad: Ahead of the IPL 2020 auctions, that took place in the ‘City of Joy’ Kolkata on December 19th, all eyes were on Royals Challengers Bangalore. It has been long since the fans are waiting to see the IPL trophy in the hands of Virat Kohli.

Despite having two of the most destructive batsmen of the cricket world –  Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers- in their team, RCB has not won a single IPL trophy till now. Though, they have made it to the playoffs a couple of times but couldn’t get their hands on the IPL trophy.

With so many holes plaguing their squad, Royal Challengers Bangalore really needed to have a good start at the auctions, in order to strengthen their squad. However, the RCB management, which is led by Mike Hesson and Simon Katch made very little to strengthen their middle-order and filled up space with local Indian talent.

RCB bolstered their fast bowling unit by roping in players like all-rounder Chris Morris, Isuru Udana and specialist pacers in Kane Richardson and Dale Steyn. The team also went for an opener in the form of Aaron Finch.

Well, the skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore is quite happy with the way management has picked up the players for IPL 2020. Talking about the same, he said:

“I am very happy with the players that we have selected and really looking forward to the new season. We’ve had a lot of discussions on the structure and balance of the team and this looks like a good start for us. I believe it all comes down to every individual to give out their best performance during the league and to enjoy the best form of cricket by playing bold.

Meanwhile, the Director of Cricket Operations of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mike Hesson, revealed that they have picked players who can adapt to any given conditions. He said:

We want a squad that can have balance and adapts to any conditions both at home and away. To pick players who help us maximize our budget judiciously took a thoughtful approach. I am very pleased with the way auction went. We wanted the majority of our overseas players to bring plenty of international experience in order to add and share knowledge with the exciting developing talents we already have at RCB,”

He added:

When we look at any overseas player to bring to RCB, it’s not only about talent, but where else can they contribute,”
