IPL 2020: Just like the other franchisees present during the IPL 2020 auction held at Kolkata yesterday, Royal Challengers Bangalore were also in the search of the right players who can help their cause to establish a strong squad and challenge the others for the IPL trophy. The last couple of seasons have not been conducive for the RCB to capitalise on, which means that this season, things need to fall in place for them even more and help them make a significant advancement to the playoffs.
This season, however, it has not been a good auction for the Royal Challengers once again, which has seen them, select players, like Dale Steyn to come into their side. who are well past their prime. Making these types of choices could actually be problematic for the side led by the Indian National Cricket team captain Virat Kohli and could be a huge detriment en route to its advancement to the IPL 2020 playoff stage.

As we can see that there is evidently lack of impact players who could help the RCB in their advent towards the IPL 2020 final. One would have a strong feeling that the men in red will have to taste disappointment once again in the next edition of the IPL. Here are a few reasons why RCB should dread disappointment.
No in-form ‘finisher’
With only five batsmen in their side, none of who is a recognized finisher and with both Aaron Finch and AB De Villiers well past their prime, it is going to be a tough ask for the Royal Challengers to finish things off in style. Though they have one of the best batsmen in world cricket gracing their ranks in the form of Virat Kohli, he has not had the best of time in the last couple of IPL’s, which could be a problem for the RCB in IPL 2020 as well.

No ‘go-to’ fast bowler
The men in red picked the likes of Dale Steyn, Kane Richardson, and Mohammed Siraj to spearhead their pace attack alongside all-rounder, Chris Morris. However, none of the players has been an impactful influence for their side as far as arresting the flow of runs as well as taking wickets are concerned, which could be a huge mistake as far as making significant progress in the IPL is concerned.
Spent too much on one player
The RCB spent a whopping 10 Crores on Chris Morris, a player who was released by his former side Delhi Capitals at the end of the last term for not being able to make a significant impact on the proceedings of the franchisee from North India in IPL 2019. The Royal Challengers seemed to be unbothered by this fact as they went all out to bring in the veteran South African into their side rather than a player like Sam Curran, who could have fit well into the mix for them and provided them with an edge over their rivals. So, as the things stand, it might, once again, not be a good time for the RCB fans once again in the IPL’s next edition.
