Sitting at the 6th position in the table, and after three consecutive defeats thus far, KKR is looking up to Andre Russell even more desperately now, despite his injury that he faced during the previous match against the Mumbai Indians.

So far, Andre Russell has scored 312 runs for eight games so far in this IPL, however, what makes him stand-out is his jaw-dropping strike rate of 213 plus. His previous performance against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he smashed 48 not out in 13 balls, made everyone sit on the edge of their seats. His last performance will still be a worry for the skipper of RCB, Virat Kohli.

Ahead of the ongoing clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders, Andre Russell opened up about the cricketer he admires the most. He was all praises for this cricketer and revealed that he is only trying to follow his footsteps. The leader that Andre Russell admires the most is none other than the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle, who is known for giving thunderstorm performances.

Talking about Gayle, Andre Russell said that he is yet far from reaching the level of Christ Gayle but he is climbing the ladder every day. He said :

“I’ve always admired Chris Gayle, who continues to show that he’s the Universe Boss,”

He added :

“I’m not at his level yet… However, I’m doing my thing and climbing up the ladder. But it’s Chris who is the man still and I’m just trying to follow in his footsteps. Chris knows what his strengths are and, indeed, plays to his strengths. He’s been hitting the ball so cleanly and so consistently. For years.”

Andre Russell will be seen playing against the cricketer he admires the most, i.e, Chris Gayle in Mohali on May 3.
