The match was the last chance for the Kolkata Knight Riders to enter the finale. The team started off really well but somehow failed miserably at the last and lost the match to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The toss was won by Dinesh Karthik, the skipper of the team who chose to bowl first. Shikhar Dhawan and Wriddhiman Saha took the Sunrisers off to a steady start. Wriddhiman Saha, scored 35 runs in 27 balls and Shikhar Dhawan, scored 34 runs in 24 balls.
However, the bowlers of Kolkata Knight Riders were high on confidence they were making it difficult for the batsmen of Sunrisers Hyderabad to score a huge number but until Rashid Khan entered the ground.

Rashid Khan smashed the bowlers of Kolkata Knight Riders to every corner of the ground, he played a destructive knock and 34 runs in only 10 balls, with the powerful strike rate of 340, Rashid Khan smashed 4 sixes and 2 fours.
The was well and truly in the radar of the Kolkata Knight Riders, as Chris Lynn started the innings very well and scored 48 off 31 balls he played. Sunil Narine looked well in form but he was sent back to pavilion, he scored quick 26 runs off the 13 balls he played.

However, the bowlers of Sunrisers Hyderabad soon outplayed the batsmen of Kolkata Knight Riders. Rashid Khan made it difficult for the batsmen of Kolkata Knight Riders to chase the target runs. He went on to take three big wickets tonight.
He started from Chris Lynn and dismissed him by LBW at the score of 48 runs, then he went on take the wickets of Nitish Rana, who was dismissed after run-out by Rashid Khan. Robin Uthappa was bowled by Rashid Khan after facing a few balls.

After the match, Dinesh Karthik in a press conference said:
“Rana’s wicket changed the course of the game. If he had pushed at that stage, the game could have been ours. It was a silly dismissal and very crucial at that stage,”
Dinesh Karthik was also critical about Robin Uthappa, talking about his game, he said:
“Robin Uthappa played a poor stroke and I think he will also admit that it was not a great shot at that stage. Till now we have actually played him well, during the two times that he has bowled to us, we batted well against him. The whole context of Rashid Khan is the way we approach him, you know in a very positive way, which is good,”
However, Dinesh Karthik praised the youngsters in his team, he said:
“It was a good campaign. We played as a team and have some good memories. We have found some fine young players such as Shubman Gill, Prasidh Krishna and Nitish Rana and we can look forward to them in the future,”
