Ambati Rayudu has been in outstanding batting form in IPL 2018 and he is one of the leading run scorers in the tournament so far. Many Indian cricket pundits, former cricketers and even MS Dhoni believe that Ambati Rayudu is a very fine talent.
Before today’s match, Rayudu was the ‘Orange Cap’ holder with 329 runs in 8 matches. He has been in brilliant run-scoring form for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and one of the reasons why the franchise’s batting department has done well in IPL 2018 so far.
Ambati Rayudu usually bats at number 4 or 5, but in IPL 2018, due to an injury to Faf du Plessis, he was promoted to the top of the order by MS Dhoni and he responded in splendid style.
But, in the match against Delhi Daredevils on Monday, Ambati Rayudu was demoted in the batting order to accommodate Faf du Plessis at the opening slot alongside Shane Watson.
There is no doubt that Faf du Plessis is a quality player and he has done for CSK over the years, but dropping in-form Rayudu was a big call and some CSK fans are not happy with MS Dhoni for taking the opening slot away from Ambati Rayudu.
