IPL 2020 Play offs: Why Wridhiman Saha Is Not Playing Against RCB?

Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has missed out on SRH’s playing XI against Royal Challengers Bangalore for the Eliminator of the IPL 2020 playoffs. SRH skipper David Warner confirmed during the toss that Saha has unfortunately picked up an injury and thus will miss out. Sreevats Goswami replaces him and is likely to open the batting alongside Warner.

“We will bowl first. Dew could play an effect, the last couple of games say so. But the wicket will not change a lot. We are under no pressure, it already started a couple of games back. Unfortunately, Wriddhiman Saha misses out with an injury, Goswami replaces him,” David Warner said at the toss.

Wriddhiman Saha has changed the fortunes of SRH

The opening pair of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner was very successful for SRH last year. But this time around, things haven’t been all that rosy this season. Also with both being foreign players and Mitchell Marsh, unfortunately, being ruled out of the tournament, SRH were missing the balance in their side.

Warner then took the hard decision of dropping Bairstow and brought in West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder in place of him. He also brought in Saha to open the batting and the duo have changed the fate of SRH. Saha and Warner have already had two century stands and the former has scored 214 runs from just 4 games at an average of 71.33 and a strike rate of 139.86.

The absence of Saha might prove to be a really big blow for SRH as they finally seemed to have found the right balance to their side. But Warner has not brought back Jonny Bairstow in the playing XI. He has still stuck to the combination that is working for him. Now Sreevats Goswami will have to step in and perform in absence of Saha.
