Kolkata Knight Riders surprised everyone in the retentions when they decided to not retain Gautam Gambhir, the former captain who has been very good for them in the past. The KKR rather decided to retain Sunil Narine and Andre Russel. To have not retained their skipper came as a surprising decision from the KKR camp.

After Gambhir was not retained by the KKR it was being speculated that the Kolkata Knight Riders will use their Right To Match for him but even that was not to be. KKR made some spectacular and hefty purchases in the auctions but Gautam Gambhir wasn’t one of them.
The KKR got Mitchell Starc m, Chris Lynn along with Kuldeep Yadav, Dinesh Karthik and Robin Uthappa to for a great team around their retained players. The KKR also bought Piyush Chawla in the auctions. While Starc went for a handsome amount of 9.4 crores, Chris Lynn went for 9.6 crores. KKR bought Dinesh Karthik for 7.4 crores which means Dinesh Karthik has got himself a great deal.

Gambhir has returned to the Delhi Daredevils and he’s is very happy about it. Gambhir has joined the Delhi Daredevils after being sold
to the devils for 2.8 crores. The batsman had kept his base price at 2 crores.
Delhi Daredevils have also got themselves Glen Maxwell for 9 crores. Gautam Gambhir has scored 4133 runs in the Indian Premier League at a strike rate of 124. He’s been instrumental in the success of the Kolkata Knight Riders ever since his stint with the KKR.
