It was rather a surprising decision that the Royal Challengers Bangalore decide to retain Sarfaraz Khan. Not that the RCB didn’t have better options to choose from but still they decided to keep Sarfaraz along with Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers.

Sarfraz featured for the RCB in 2015 and scored runs at a staggering strike rate. However in the next season he had to sit out because of his injury and could only manage 5 appearances the entire season. His knee injury got the better of him and he was kept out of action for almost the entire year.

Sarfaraz Khan was enthralled to see himself being retained by the most popular team of the Indian Premier League. Sarfraz expresses great gratitude to the RCB team management for retaining him.

Speaking about his retention the young lad said that he was delighted to receive a call from the management of the RCB to inform him about the retention.

Sarfaraz said, “thanks to them who from my leg operation, to rehabilitation took it all upon themselves financially. They paid 5 Lakhs for my operation and made me recover from the injury”

This is how he revealed the fact that the Royal Challengers Bangalore paid him for getting his leg operated. Sarfaraz has every reason to celebrate his selection ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal who ended 2017 as being the highest wicket taker in the shortest format of the game.

Now it would be interesting to see if Royal Challengers Bangalore use their ‘Right to Match’ card to get Yuzvendra Chahal. Lokesh Rahul is another player that the RCB would be tempted towards for the use of their Right To Match.
