There’s much excitement among cricket fans in India about retention of players in their favourite IPL Franchises. A day after all the franchise owners came to mutual terms with respect to the retention policy announced by the IPL Governing Council, there’s some big news coming from Mumbai Indians.
The present title holders have made a major change in their coaching department. Jonty Rhodes will be replaced as the fielding coach of the Mumbai Indians brigade. James Pamment will replace the former South African flying fielder as the fielding coach of the Mumbai Indians.
The legendary South African cricketer was roped in by Mumbai Indians in 2009. He has been an integral part of the Mumbai camp since 9 seasons. He is unarguably the best fielder to have ever played the game and would always remain an icon in terms of fielding.
Why did Jonty Rhodes Quit?
Jonty Rhodes has cited some personal reasons to be released from the camp. Jonty Rhodes wants to take care of his personal business ventures and hence he wanted to be liberated from the Mumbai Indians camp.
Speaking of Jonty Rhodes contributions to the team, Akash Ambani said, “Jonty has been pillar strength and energy in Mumbai Indians. His contribution can not be valued in words.”
Akash further added that the team management respects Jonty Rhode’s decision and wishes him luck for for future. He further added that Jonty Rhodes will always be a part of the Mumbai Indians family.
