IPL: 5 Players Who Performed Better After Changing Teams

The IPL has been around for a long ten years and has served up some really memorable moments.  There have been players who have managed to stay in one team for a long period of time while some have found success after being transferred. Here is a look at 5 players who were successful after moving teams:

Gautam Gambhir

The current captain of KKR has been in stellar form ever since he moved from the Delhi Daredevils and took up the captaincy of the Kolkata team. Under his leadership, KKR have managed to win two IPLs and have consistently performed well in the tournament. He has managed his resources well while setting the example himself as a batsman.

Robin Uthappa

Another batsman who found success with the KKR, Uthappa started off with the Mumbai Indians and had relative success with them. He moved to hometown team Royal Challengers Bangalore and was able to provide them with the power they were lacking in the two years that he was there.

He had a dull stint with the now defunct Sahara Pune Warriors and was then drafted to the KKR. He was most successful after he moved to the Kolkata Knight Riders. He scored a brilliant 2012 runs in 60 matches and is still performing admirably for the team.

Chris Gayle

It’s hard to fathom why Gayle was unsuccessful with the Kolkata Knight Riders despite having a reputation for being one of the biggest hitters in the game. He only scored a paltry 463 runs with them in 3 years before moving to the Bangalore outfit. With RCB, he has managed to score a mammoth 3372 runs in 90 matches and has provided countless memorable moments with the team. He also holds the record for the highest score by a T20 batsman with 175 against the Pune Warriors – a game in which he scored the fastest century also.

Dwayne Bravo

The colourful West Indian started his IPL career with the Mumbai Indians and only managed 457 runs and 30 wickets with the team. He was sold to the CSK and his real talent shone with the Chennai team. Shining both with bat and ball, Bravo managed to score 982 runs while bagging 93 wickets with the team, proving to be one of their most important performers.

David Warner

The Australian player has been in scintillating form for the SRH team and has even led them to an IPL title. He was part of the Delhi Daredevils setup previously for who he was not as consistent and belligerent as he is with the SRH.  For the Delhi Daredevils, he scored 1456 runs in 57 matches while he has managed to score a jaw-dropping 2473 runs in the same number of matches for the SRH.
