IPL 2017: RCB skipper Virat Kohli likely to miss first few matches due to shoulder injury

IPL 2017: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli got injured during the third match of the recently concluded series between India and Australia. He had to miss the fourth and final match of the series and he still hasn’t recovered from his shoulder injury. Kohli, while trying to save a boundary, landed heavily on his right shoulder and picked up an impact injury, which might take a few weeks to heal.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony after the fourth Test, Virat Kohli said:

”Still a few weeks to go till I can be 100% on the field. You have to take it in your stride and move forward,” Virat Kohli said.

“It (shoulder) is not fine as of now. I don’t know exactly. The physio will give an official statement soon on the time span,” the RCB skipper added.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are a very strong team on paper but they rely heavily on Virat Kohli as far as their batting is concerned. In the last season of IPL, Virat Kohli took them to the final almost single-handedly. The likes of AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson and other contributed but it was Kohli’s unbelievable consistency with the bat that made the difference. He was the leading run-scorer of the tournament by a very big margin. Kohli also became the first batsman in IPL history to score 4 hundreds in a single season of IPL.
