IPL 2016: Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers carnage in numbers

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers entertained one and all with thier spectacular bating against The Gujarat Lions at Chennaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. It was an absolute carnage as Kohli and De Villiers scored hundreds and smashed massive sixes all around the park. The Gujarat Lions’ bowling attack was made to look ordinary by Kohli and De Villiers. Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 248 runs in their quota of 20 overs.

Here are some of the stats from the RCB innings:

1) 248 is the second-highest total for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. They also have the highest score in T20s, which is 263/5 achieved against Sahara Pune Warriors in the 2013 edition.

2) Virat Kohli ended things with 109 from 55 balls and AB de Villiers with 129 from 52 balls. This is the second time two players from same team scored hundreds in a match. Previously, Kevin O’Brien (119) and Hamish Marshall (102) scored two tons in same innings in English County in 2011.

3) AB de Villiers took 43 balls to reach his ton – the fifth fastest in IPL. Chris Gayle holds the record for the quickest ton (30 balls).

4) Kohli and De Villiers now have four century partnerships between them – most for a pairing in a single IPL season.

5) RCB scored a massive 112 runs in the last five overs. After 10 overs, RCB were 76/1, they added 172 in the last 10 overs.

6) Only Ravindra Jadeja finished with an economy rate of below 10. Everyone else was thumped around with Shivil Kaushik proving most expensive. His final figures read: 3-0-50-0.

7) AB de Villies scored 112 runs in fours and sixes in his knock of 129*. He smashed 10 fours and 12 sixes in his blistering innings.

8) The 229-run partnership between Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers is now the highest in Twenty20 matches. The previous highest was also by Kohli and de Villiers, which was 215 against Mumbai Indians in the 2015 edition.

9) Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have 4 century stands in IPL 2016. They have the three highest stands in this edition of the tournament.
