As Sunrisers Hyderabad wrung out their first victory of IPL 2020 against a soaring Delhi Capitals, Kane Williamson made his presence felt in an otherwise difficult surface to bat on.
Sunrisers Hyderabad were off to a decent start, thanks to some power-packed batting from Jonny Bairstow and Dave Warner, who stitched a fabulous partnership of 77 runs with Warner being the more aggressive of the two. Once Warner fell to Amit Mishra, Bairstow and Williamson continued the momentum with the Kiwi skipper showcasing some fine cricketing strokes and brilliant running between the wickets.
Bairstow got out for a good half-century but he consumed a lot of balls in the process, making life difficult for the ones to follow. Pandey was removed cheaply with debutant Abdul Samad given a go to free his arms.
The most beautiful part of the innings belonged to this 18-year-old Kashmiri cricketer who took out Nortje with an astronomical six over long-on. Sunrisers posted a decent total of 162 for 4.
Delhi were off to a stammering start as Bhuvneshwar Kumar got Prithvi Shaw dismissed early and the Hyderabadi bowlers applied the brakes to the Delhi innings throughout.
Rashid Khan was the pick of the slew as he registered figures of 4-0-14-3. His first victim was Shreyas Iyer who couldn’t resist the temptation to strike an over-pitched delivery and in the process holed out Abdul Samad on the ropes.
The next to follow suit was Shikhar Dhawan who ended up nicking a skitter that was pouched well by English keeper Jonny Bairstow. The final victim of the Afghani spinning wizard was Rishabh Pant who couldn’t really time his shot to perfection before Priyam Garg taking a simple take.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled an excellent 19th over that saw the match drifting away from Delhi with Khaleel Ahmed putting an end to their misery.
Twitter finally lauded this valiant effort from Hyderabad in taming the best of the fray so far.
Delighted for Natarajan. Excellent execution of yorkers at the end. Rashid was sensational as well. Great now that all the teams are off the mark.

My IPL experience says that if it’s Axar Patel on your TV screen with a bat, It’s a waste of electricity & time. #SRHvDC
