The overseas players have always been in demand in the IPL auctions, ever since the inception of this cash-rich tournament. While Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff were among the first overseas players to draw huge bids, on the other hand, Ben Stokes has been in huge demand ever since he made his debut in the league.

1. Pat Cummins – 15.5 Crore:
After skipping one season of IPL, Pat Cummins left everyone stunned by emerging as the highest overseas cricketer in the history of the Indian Premier League 2020. During the auctions, Cummins drew oodles of bids from Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The Bangalore-based franchise was ready to spend a sum of Rs 15.25 crore on him, however, Kolkata Knight Riders, were in no mood to let him go. KKR signed Cummins for a record price of Rs 15.5 crore.
In IPL 2020, Cummins managed to pick 12 wickets, out of which 9 were in KKR’s final four matches. KKR has retained him for IPL 2021.
2. Ben Stokes – 14.5 Crore:
Ben Stokes created history as he shattered all the past records. He emerged out as the highest-paid overseas pick when he made his IPL debut in the year 2007. He was picked by Rising Pune Supergiant bought him for Rs 14.5 crore. Stokes had a memorable season in 2017, as he scored 316 runs and scalped 12 wickets.
3. Ben Stokes – 12.5 Crore:
In the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League, which was his second year in IPL, Stokes once again managed to emerge as the highest pick for the IPL auction when Rajasthan Royals picked him for Rs 12.5 crore, despite the fact that the cricketer wasn’t available for the complete season.
Stokes struggled in that season and could only manage 196 runs off 161 balls across 13 matches. With the ball, he picked 8 wickets during that season. Stokes is still an important part of Rajasthan Royals.
4. Tymal Mills – 12 Crore:
Tymal Mills was one of the top picks in the IPL 2017 auction. He was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 12 crore on the England pacer. However, Tymal turned out to be the biggest flops of the season. He played only 5 matches, where he leaked runs at 8.57 and managed 5 scalps. Tymal hasn’t been able to draw a bid since then.
5. Glenn Maxwell – INR 14.25 Crores:
Glenn Maxwell was bought by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) for INR 10 crores in IPL 2020, however, he had a very disappointing season. He had scored 108 runs at a strike-rate of 101.88 from 13 matches in the previous edition. Despite this fact, Glenn Maxwell has been bought for a whopping 14.25 in IPL 2021 auctions by Royal Challengers Bangalore. It will be interesting to see if he will be able to make a strong comeback in IPL.
