5 Bowlers Whose First Wicket Was MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni will go down as the most successful captain in Indian cricket history. The Ranchi-based wicket-keeper batsman is the only man on earth to lead his nation to a T20 World Cup win, an ICC World Cup win, an ICC Champions Trophy triumph, and the number one spot in the ICC Test Rankings.

He is regarded as one of the best finishers in cricket as well because of his big-hitting abilities and the skills to plan an innings. To dismiss him in any format is tough. His number of not outs highlights that fact, but here are the five bowlers whose first wicket in a particular format was MS Dhoni.

Obed McCoy – West Indies

5 Bowlers Whose First Wicket Was MS Dhoni

West Indies’ upcoming left-arm pace bowler Obed McCoy made his ODI debut against India last year. He got off to a dream start with the ball as he rattled the stumps of MS Dhoni in his first one-dayer. His spell helped West Indies tie the match against India.

Scott Boland – Australia

Australian right-arm fast bowler Scott Boland made his ODI versus India in 2016. Unfortunately, he could not pick up a wicket in his first game, but in the next game, he picked up the prized wicket of MS Dhoni as the Indian batsman hit one of his deliveries straight into the hands of Glenn Maxwell.

Malinga Bandara – Sri Lanka

Malinga Bandara has a rare achievement of dismissing MS Dhoni at the MA Chidarambam Stadium as his first Test wicket. Dhoni hit a shot to Gunawardene in that game to give Bandara his first Test wicket.

Andrew Tye – Australia

Another Australian right-arm pace bowler to feature on this list is the former IPL Purple Cap winner Andrew Tye. The Aussie bowler dismissed Dhoni on his T20I debut, by forcing him to hit a shot to Shane Watson.

David Hussey – Australia

David Hussey rarely bowled for Australia in T20I matches. He bowled for his country for the first time in a match against India in 2008 and to everyone’s surprise, he managed to send Dhoni back to the pavilion as Brett Lee caught him off Hussey’s delivery.
