5 Indian T20I Cricketers You May Have Forgotten

The competition levels in Indian cricket are sky-high right now. It is the dream of almost every second Indian kid to play for India at the international level one day. However, not everyone can fulfill his dream because it requires the next level of patience and dedication. Over the years, many Indian players have been able to debut riding on their excellent performances in the domestic circuit. Still, only a few of them have managed to cement their spot in the Indian team.

In this article, we will look at those five players who made it to the Indian T20I team once upon a time, but very few fans can recognize them as international players who donned the Indian jersey in T20s.

Dinesh Mongia

Dinesh Mongia was one of the eleven players who took the field against South Africa in India’s first-ever T20 international match. Mongia batted a patient inning that lasted for 45 deliveries before Robin Peterson dismissed him. Although the Men in Blue won that match, Mongia never received an opportunity to play a T20I for India again.

Murali Kartik

Former Indian left-arm spinner Murali Kartik never received enough opportunities to play at the international level because of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh. However, in the limited opportunities that he received, Kartik left a lasting impact. The former Pune Warriors player made his T20I debut against Australia and bowled a tidy spell of 0/27 in 4 overs, but his career ended after that game.

Sudeep Tyagi

The fans once billed this man as the next big thing in Indian cricket. Sudeep Tyagi ruled the hearts of the fans with his pace. Unfortunately, the Ghaziabad-based pacer lost his touch when he received the national call-up. Tyagi leaked 21 runs in the two overs he bowled against Sri Lanka on T20I debut, and he never returned to the Indian T20I team after that.

Karn Sharma

Karn Sharma succeeded a lot while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. His consistent performances earned him a place in the national squad. He made his T20I debut against England, along with Jason Roy and Ambati Rayudu. He bowled a tidy spell of 1/28. Still, he lost his place from the team.

Sreenath Aravind

India has been looking for Zaheer Khan’s replacement for the last few years. Sreenath Aravind was a guy who impressed a lot in the IPL and soon made it to the national team. Aravind played his only T20I game against South Africa. The left-arm pacer went for 44 runs in his wicketless spell of 3.4 overs as the team management soon dropped him from the team.
