Shubman Gill is someone who has not played a lot of international cricket yet, but he is already hailed as one of the best young batsmen around the world and his KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik is very confident that the youngster will be able to exceed all the expectations in the ongoing IPL 2020.

By the looks of it, KKR has probably decided to slot Shubman Gill in the top order this season and he is likely to be opening the batting with Sunil Narine. Gill is naturally a top order batsman, but in the last couple of seasons at KKR, he had to bat lower down the order as KKR already had a settled opening pair of Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine.

However, with Chris Lynn having moved to Mumbai Indians now, KKR has a vacancy at the top of the order and they seem to have made up their mind to put Gill upfront.
According to Karthik, Gill will form a unique opening combination with Narine because he is someone who is very neat and conventional in his style, while Narine is a bit different.
“I really liked him. I think his uncomplicated batting style with Narine makes things easy for us. Shubman is a quality player and there’s a lot of expectations from him around the world as a batter and I’m sure he will exceed all expectations,” Karthik said while addressing the virtual press conference ahead of KKR’s season opener against Mumbai Indians.
Karthik also talked about the potential par score at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and while he said that 160 was the score the team batting first would be looking at, he also insisted that a score bigger than that could be achieved as well.
