In 2014, Rohit Sharma scored the highest individual ODI score against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens. Hitman registered a record-shattering 264 to go past Sehwag’s previous tally of 219 runs scored against West Indies. Rohit’s humungous innings included a total of 33 fours and 9 sixes.
2. Sachin Tendulkar – Most hundreds in a calendar year
Sachin Tendulkar was at the peak of his powers in 1998. In the same year, Sachin recorded a total of 12 centuries in a calendar year. Even after 22 years, none of the batters has been successful in going past the Master’s tally.
3. Sachin Tendulkar – Most Test appearances
Sachin Tendulkar finished his playing career with 200 Test matches for India. He played 32 more Tests than Ricky Ponting, who managed to play 168 Tests in his 17-year long career for Australia. It is a record which might be never be broken even in the future.
4. Sunil Gavaskar – The only player to score 4 consecutive 100s at two cricketing venues
Sunil Gavaskar played during an era that was dominated by fast bowling. He made his debut against West Indies and scored 774 runs against the most devastating fast-bowling quartet of all-time. However, he even held another record when he became the only player to register four consecutive centuries at two cricketing venues. He achieved this feat at Port of Spain in the Caribbean and at his home ground in Wankhede Stadium.
5. Virender Sehwag – Only Player to score 7500+ runs as an opener in Tests and ODIs
