Ravi Shastri Trolls MS Dhoni’s Critics In His Trademark Style

Talks about MS Dhoni’s retirement has become an everyday story. Every time the selectors announce the playing squad of limited-overs, people start asking questions about MS Dhoni’s retirement. Recently, the chief selector MSK Prasad claimed that they are ‘moving-on’ to the youngsters.

The former Indian captain, MS Dhoni himself hasn’t played any international cricket since the semi-final of the World Cup against New Zealand. As soon as the world cup was over, he took a sabbatical from the game and kept on extending it.

Fans of MS Dhoni are waiting anxiously for the former skipper to make a comeback but there is still no clarity over when will he return to action. However, the critics of MS Dhoni and cricket pundits are waiting for his retirement for a long time.

On the other hand, the Indian cricket team, unlike the critics and pundits have immense respect for the veteran and aren’t worried about his retirement. The team was all smiles and excited when recently MS Dhoni paid a visit to them the dressing room post-India’s win over South Africa in Ranchi.

Indian head coach had even taken to his twitter and shared a picture of him with MS Dhoni and called him ‘the Indian legend’. He has once again opened up on MS Dhoni’s retirement and feels that making statements against him is disrespectful. He said:

“Half the guys commenting on MS Dhoni can’t even tie their shoelaces. Look at what he’s achieved for the country. Why are people in a hurry to see him off? Maybe, they don’t find enough talking points. He and everybody who knows him know he’ll be going away soon. So, let it happen when it has to. Making statements at his expense is downright disrespectful.”

He added:

“After 15 years of playing for India, wouldn’t he know what’s the right thing to do? When he retired from Test cricket, what did he say? That Wriddhiman Saha was good enough to be handed over the wicket-keeping gloves. He was correct. He’s been a shadow when it comes to the team, always sharing his mind, lending his views”

He also talked about the other day when MS Dhoni visited the dressing room in Ranchi. He said:

“The other day, he came over to the dressing room in Ranchi to meet Shahbaz Nadeem and had a chat – how motivating is that for a guy making his debut at home. Let me say this: MS Dhoni has earned the right to retire when he wants to. And let this debate end once and for all”.
