The finale match of ICC World Cup 2019 had to be the most epic finale to have taken place. The match was a treat for every cricket lover out there around the globe. However, the most epic match turned into a child’s play when the match had to choose a winner based on a biased rule, that left everyone disappointed.

Yes, the biased rule which took the entire cricketing world by storm was the boundary count rule. The boundary count rule about which most people didn’t know about became the hot topic of debate after the conclusion of ICC World Cup 2019.

Now three months after the controversial finale of ICC World Cup 2019, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to scrap boundary count rule that used to decide the result of a semi-final or final at an ICC event, in case of a tied Super Over.

In addition, the committee has decided to continue with the super over until the outcome of the match. ICC released a statement on Monday, that read:

“In Semi-finals and Finals, there is one change to the Super Over-regulation in keeping with the basic principle of scoring more runs than the opponent to win, the Super Over will be repeated until one team has more runs than the other.”

Following the news, some heartbroken New Zealand cricketers took to their social media to express their disappointment. James Neesham, the all-rounder tweeted, “Next on the agenda: Better binoculars for the ice spotters on the Titanic.”

While on the other hand, former player Craig McMillan said, “Bit late ICC.” McMillan even pointed out four bonus runs given to England courtesy an umpiring blunder saying, How about fixing the other rule issue @ICC……a dead ball once the ball has hit/deflected from a batsman??”

Here, have a look at how the cricketers of New Zealand cricket team reacted to the news:
