Mahendra Singh Dhoni might have retired from the captaincy but still one can’t take away the leadership qualities in him. Time and again he is seen giving his valuable inputs in the matches and all thanks to his experience, his inputs have always worked in favor of our Indian cricket team.
Recently, Indian cricket team won the Asian Cup, a picture went viral where the young debutante Khaleel Ahmed was seen holding the winning trophy. Well, the world for yet another time bowed down to MS Dhoni as it was revealed it was MS Dhoni who asked captain, Rohit Sharma to let Khaleel Ahmed hold the winning trophy.
Khaleel Ahmed made a brilliant International debut in this tournament as he took four wickets in two matches and also scored some crucial runs and saved the day for Indian cricket team in the match against Afghanistan.
Recently, in an interview with Times of India, Khaleel Ahmed revealed that it was MS Dhoni’s gesture towards him which made him emotional and speechless. He revealed :
“Dhoni bhai asked Rohit Sharma to let me hold the trophy on the dais. He gave me the trophy because I was the youngest member in the team and it was my debut series. It was a memorable experience for me.”
He added :
“When Dhoni bhai and Rohit asked me to hold the winning trophy, I had no words.I became emotional and will never forget that moment,” “
In his debut match against Hong Kong, Khaleel Ahmed also benefited from Dhoni’s advice. Khaleel Ahmed played a crucial role for Indian team winning the match. He trapped Nizakat Khan, who was looking dangerous, for 92 and India eventually won the game by 26 runs.Later he revealed that it was MS Dhoni who had asked him to maintain the pace and pitch the ball a bit before. He said :
“Dhoni walked up to me and said ‘ pace maintain kar ke rakh aur thoda aage daal’ (maintain your pace and bowl bowl a bit forward). I tried it twice and it worked fo me. Finally, I managed to break the opening stand. We all are lucky to have MS Dhoni in the team”
