The dominance of India in the ODI series finally came to a halt at Johannesburg. South Africa upheld its record of never losing a Pink Day ODI and defeated India by 5 wickets.
Batting first India had set a total of 290 to be chased. For India it was Shikhar Dhawan who was the star with the bat. He got himself a handsome hundred in his hundredth ODI.
India after losing Rohit Sharma early yet again was anchored by Kohli and Dhawan. This partnership has been so crucial for India in all the ODIs so far. Virat Kohli unfortunately missed out on his 35th ODI ton as he got out after playing a brilliant innings of 75. But it was Shikhar Dhawan who joined the party today and he smashed a handsome ton.
There was a very crucial partnership of 158 between Kohli and Dhawan which ensured India stayed in a good position. Shikhar Dhawan, the stunning left handed opener has shown great form in this ODI series. After two handsome half centuries in the series he scored a blistering century of just 99 balls.
India Lose a rain affected match
Because of rain and play being interrupted the South African innings was cut short to 28 overs and The was revised to 202. A great partnership between Miller and Klaasen. The two took the game away from Indian as they looted far too many runs from Chahal’s and Yadav’s bowling.

The young duo of wrists spinners was far too expensive today and that did not allow India to have any control over the game in the last leg of it.
Yuzvendra Chahal was too expensive he was in this match. He let off Miller by bowling him out on a no ball. Chahal went for 68 in just 5.3 overs which cost India the match. Chahal did pick one wicket but it was too late by then. Kuldeep Yadav too was on the expensive side in this match. Even though he picked up 2 wickets, he went for 51 from his 6 overs.
Here are the Twitter reactions:

I know the contexts are different, but for 3 matches the Proteas batsmen have just surrendered to the spinners. Now forced to attack them, they actually look like cricketers

‘India Choke On Heinrich Manouver’ would be too risqué a headline?

It’s unbelievable that a no-ball caught by the cameras…but not called by the umpire….doesn’t get penalised. Cricket, why can’t you change a little? #SAvIND #Chahal
