The Indian Under 19 Team has impressed everyone all through their journey of the ongoing World Cup in New Zealand. India has stormed its way into the World Cup finals by thrashing Pakistan in the semis by 2013 runs. India has made its way to the finals in a very handsome manner as India is still unbeaten in the tournament.
This team and its players have got everyone in awe of them. India will now face Australia in the finals. Virat Kohli, the present Indian captain too is in awe of this team. Virat Kohli was the captain of India’s under 19 side when India won the under 19 World Cup in 2008. Kohli feels that this team of Prithvi Shaw is similar to Kohli’s 2008 team.
Virat Kohli is very impressed with this team and not just him but every former cricketer is. Virat Kohli lauded the team’s performance against Pakistan. Here is what Kohli said about Prithvi Shaw’s team.
“It feels amazing (to see them do well). I interacted with them before they left and its a lovely bunch of boys. Compared to our lot (when India won in 2008 under Kohli), the confidence levels are somewhere else which is a great sign,”
The Indian captain further added
“You’ll see many people making a strong statement for themselves much earlier than we all did. They have done amazingly well and the semifinal (against Pakistan) was an amazing game,”
KOHLI ON INDIA’s HANDSOME WIN AGAINST PAKISTAN
“Playing such a high-pressure game (against Pakistan), they really stood up and that’s what you want to see. You want to see people standing up when its needed the most. I want to wish them all the very best for the final,”
VIRAT KOHLI ON THE WORLD CUP FINAL
Virat Kohli said that he would want to see this team win the cup. He further added that he would be closely following the finals.
“Well all be following very keenly and well be eagerly waiting to see them lift the cup again. I believe they have the talent, and they believe in that much more than I do, which I think is very, very important,”
