Suresh Raina’s fans are delighted as the left handed batsman has made his way back to India’s T20 side for the series against Proteas. Suresh Raina has been ignored for a while by the selectors citing his fitness and form.
But he has shown some great form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy which just concluded. Although Raina’s team, Uttar Pradesh couldn’t win the trophy but Suresh Raina won all accolades for his stormy knocks.
First he smashed a brilliant century against Bengal of just 49 balls and then he played a staggering knock of 61 runs from just 41 balls. Given the scintillating touch he’s been in, he was expected to be a part of the T20 squad and make a comeback to the Indian team.
During the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy Suresh Raina also surpassed Virat Kohli to become India’s leading run getter in the shortest format. In T20 internationals Suresh Raina’s has 1307 runs to his name and it’s come at a strike take of 131.
Raina also has a century to his name in T20 internationals and has an average of around 30. This comes in as a great news for the 31 year old batsman and his fans. Suresh Raina we must say has earned his comeback to the side and he’d be keen to play for India after such a long time.
