Big Issue For Team India Ahead Of The Second Test

India has lost out to South Africa in the first test despite the bowlers setting it up nicely for Virat Kohli and his men to start the tour on a winning note. But the batting debacle cost India the game and India lost the match by 72 runs. But India’s troubles don’t seem to be ending.

SAHA’s FORM A BIG CONCERN

Wriddhiman Saha has not been in the greatest forms and his recent scores have rather been miserable. Playing in South Africa, India would want every batsman to contribute to the team’s fortunes or else the batting collapses would become a regular feature in South Africa.

This also applies to Wriddhiman Saha and lately he has not been contributing with the bat and this is hurting India badly. Saha may have scripted a record with the gloves in the first test having scalped 10 dismissals but with the bat, he turned out to be a great disappointment.

Wriddhiman Saha only managed 8 runs in two innings and such has been the sorry state of his form for quite a while now. The 33-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has failed to contribute to India’s batting and has rather been a misery with the bat.

HERE ARE SAHA’s LAST 8 TEST INNINGS SCORES

Wriddhiman Saha has 1164 runs from 46 innings at an average of 30.6 and this may seem decent for a wicketkeeper-batsman at first. But his last few innings have been just miserable. In his last 8 test innings, Saha has scores of 8,0,9*,1*,5,29,16,67 and these numbers are disheartening.

Saha not been able to contribute with the bat is a major concern for India ahead of the second test that begins on January 13. This way Saha is only adding to the woes of Indian batting which is already too vulnerable playing in South Africa.

Saha needs to accept the responsibility and contribute as a batsman too and on the overseas tour, India would need his service with the bat quite badly. Saha needs to get going with the bat or else he may soon see himself sitting out.
