After India faced a humiliating defeat in the first test, a former Indian cricketer has slammed Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan for their poor show in the first test. Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian captain has indirectly hurled criticism on these two and their test performance outside India.

Ganguly Stands by Kohli

Sourav Ganguly also picked Virat Kohli and Murali Vijay as being India’s best batsmen for overseas conditions. The former captain said, “I have tremendous regard for Virat Kohli and we will see an improved performance in the next game.”

Taking digs at Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma, Sourav Ganguly said, “History of Rohit Sharma and history of Shikhar Dhawan in overseas conditions is not good. You look at their records, it’s like chalk and cheese when when they go away and when they are in India.”

While Shikhar Dhawan only managed 32 runs in 2 innings, Rohit Sharma scored 21 in both innings. India’s loss was courtesy of the batsmen as the Indian bowlers had given them a perfect chance to start the tour on a winning note.

Dada Also Slammed Pujara

Talking about Cheteshwar Pujara, Sourav Ganguly took a slight dig at him too. Ganguly said that 13 of his 14 Test Hundreds have been in the sub continent hence it was expected from him, the way he miserably performed.

India lost the first test by 72 runs and it was all because of a poor batting show by the number one test team in the world. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma literally threw their wickets away and were amply irresponsible in the manner how they gave away their wickets to deliveries which were so ordinary.
Ganguly Praised KL Rahul

Sourav Ganguly after slamming Dhawan and Rohit also favoured KL Rahul. Sourav Ganguly pointed out that he’s a good batsman and he has made runs in Australia, West Indies and other overseas destinations.

Now with Dhawan failing miserably, KL Rahul comes in contention for the opening slot in the second game. Rest only time will tell.
