With a staggering double century at Perth the Aussie Skipper you completed 1000 Test runs in the year 2017. You would be surprised to know that Steve Smith has maintained an average in excess of 60 for four consecutive years in test match cricket which is just unbelievable.

Smith is on a scoring spree especially in the longest format and there’s no stopping him. With this century at Perth in the ongoing Ashes series he also went past Sachin Tendulkar in the tally of fastest batsmen to reach 22 Test Hundreds.
Smith got his 22nd Test Century in 108 innings while Sachin Tendulkar took 114 innings to reach to 22 Test Hundreds. The list is of course dominated by Sir Don Bradman who took merely 58 innings to reach to 22 Test Hundreds and it seems like no one will ever get any close to him.
Smith only the second player to score 1000 Test runs for 4 successive years. The first batsman to do so was Mathew Hayden who scored in excess of 1000 Test runs for four consecutive years between 2001 and 2005. Hayden was a legendary cricketer who scored his runs at a hefty average.
Former England cricketer Kevin Pieterson and the legendary Windies batsman Brian Lara are the only two other batsmen to have scored runs at an average of more than 50 for three consecutive years.
Steve Smith with the kind of form he is in, is smashing all the batting records at discretion and is maintaining the top spot in ICC test rankings like a king.
