Indian captain Virat Kohli led from the front and scored a ravishing century to wrap up the 5 match One Day International (ODI) series 3-1. Kohli came in to bat after Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed without troubling the scorers, and played his natural game right from the first ball.

After the defeat in fourth ODI, Virat Kohli blamed poor shot selection and he made a conscious effort in the fifth ODI to make sure that he doesn’t play any lose shot.

The hundred Virat Kohli smashed was his 28th ODI hundred, and with this, he has equalled Sanath Jayasuria in the list of most hundreds in One Day International (ODI) cricket. Kohli also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record of scoring most number of hundreds while chasing. Virat Kohli now has 18 such centuries to his name, one more than the Master Blaster.

In the last 5 years or so, we have seen Virat Kohli play some of the most outstanding innings for India while chasing. Fans and cricket pundits across the world call him a master chaser because of the way he targets a run-chase and constructs his innings according to the need of the situation.

Virat Kohli was under some pressure after two consecutive failures. He has set such high standards for himself that fans expect him to score a hundred in every game. Well, Kohli came out to bat with a very positive frame of mind and didn’t allow West Indies bowlers to settle down.

Kohli, in his trademark style, kept rotating the strike and didn’t allow the West Indians bowlers to put pressure. He was well supported by Ajinkya Rahane, who was arguably India’s best batsman of the series.

The most special part of the entire innings was the manner in which Virat Kohli finished off the game. It was a perfect gift for his teammate MS Dhoni, who turned 35 today.
