BCCI Annual Contracts 2017: 7 Players Who Were Ignored

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced annual contracts for cricketers on Wednesday. While BCCI doubled the retainers amount of all three grades, Suresh Raina, India’s limited-overs specialist, wasn’t included in any of the contracts. This came as a big news for the fans as until last year he was an important member of India’s limited-overs team.

In the last 12 months or so, Suresh Raina hasn’t played much cricket for India but in the last T20I series against England, Suresh Raina made his comeback and did well. Batting at number 3, Raina showed signs of getting back to form and played in his trademark counter-attacking style, but still he didn’t find place in BCCI’s annual contract this year.

Another veteran of Indian cricket, Harbhajan Singh, who is trying hard at the domestic level to make a comeback, was also ignored by BCCI in the annual contracts 2017. However, it would be fair to say that with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja playing as two main spinners for India, there is a very little chance for Harbhajan Singh to make a comeback. Even at the domestic level, Bhajji hasn’t given any spectacular performance to catch eye-balls.

Here are 7 players, and their grades in the last contract, who missed out on BCCI’s annual contracts 2017:

Suresh Raina – Grade B

Stuart Binny – Grade C

Mohit Sharma – Grade C

Varun Aaron- Grade C

Karn Sharma – Grade C

Harbhajan Singh – Grade C

Sreenath Aravind – Grade C
