In his comeback innings, AB de Villiers batted in his trademark style and scored his ninth T20I fifty off just 35 balls. He batted for 44 balls and scored 63 runs. De Villiers played variety of strokes and made Sri Lankan bowlers look ordinary while he lasted.

South Africa’s coach said after AB de Villiers’ knock that he was very nervous before the match.

“He was nervous. It was almost as though he was playing his debut today,” Russell Domingo, South Africa’s coach was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.com.

“He was very edgy and said he felt like he was playing for the first time. It’s great – it shows how much it still means to perform. That’s exciting for us, because it’s almost like a bit of a rebirth for him. He’s fresh and really desperate to do well,” he added.
