There is no denying that cricket ODI is a religion in India. It is the most popular sport in the nation. The India National Cricket Team is one of the most powerful units in world cricket. They played their first-ever ODI against England in 1974.

India took everyone by surprise after winning their first-ever 50-over World Cup in 1983. They created history after winning their second World Cup title in 2011. Besides, the Men in Blue also have an ICC 2007 T20 World Cup title and ICC 2013 Champions Trophy to their name. 

Over the years, India has played a lot of bilateral trophies with different teams. They have secured wins on numerous occasions. The Men in Blue possess an outstanding head-to-head record against Sri Lanka, having won 99 games against them.

6. Australia: 53 wins

 India doesn’t boast of a great record against Australia in one-day internationals. They have the sixth most number of wins against Australia. India and Australia have squared up against each other in 143 matches so far. India emerged victorious on 53 occasions with a win percentage close to 40.00%. India has suffered defeats on 80 occasions against Australia in one-day internationals. 

5. England: 53 wins 

India played its first-ever ODI game against England in 1974. England won that game convincingly by 4 wickets. They have played 122 matches against England since. India emerged victorious in 53 matches against England in one-day internationals, while England won in 42 games. India last played an ODI against England in the ICC World Cup 2019 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. England won that game by 31 runs.

A strange feeling of excitement fills the cricket fans whenever India takes on New Zealand in white-ball cricket. Over the years, both countries have produced some mouth-watering contests. India and New Zealand have played 110 one-day internationals between them. India has the fourth most number of wins against New Zealand. They emerged victorious in 55 games, while New Zealand won on 49 occasions. The Men in Blue possess a win percentage of 52.85 against New Zealand in one-day internationals. 

3. Pakistan: 55 wins

India has played the third most number of one-day matches against their arch-rivals, Pakistan. In 132 games, they have managed to win in 55 games, while Pakistan won on 73 occasions. While Pakistan has a better record against India in one-day internationals, it is interesting to note that Pakistan has not managed to win a single game against India in the ICC 50-over World Cups. 

2. West Indies: 64 wins

Whenever you think of West India, the first thing which strikes your mind is the final of the 1975 ICC World Cup. Both countries have recorded a nearly equal number of wins against each other. India is slightly ahead of them as of now with just one more win than the Windies. In 133 matches, India has recorded 64 wins against West Indies- second-most in one-day internationals. 

  1. Sri Lanka: 91 wins 

Most Wins For India In ODIs By Opponents

India has played the most number of one-day international games against Sri Lanka in its ODI history. They have dominated Sri Lanka over the years in the white-ball format. In 159 games, India has managed to record 91 wins, while West Indies emerged victorious on 56 occasions. India possesses a win percentage of 61.82.
