This advice from Sachin Tendulkar changed everything for Virat Kohli in Test cricket

The year 2016 has been nothing short of spectacular for India’s Test captain Virat Kohli. In Test cricket, Virat Kohli’s stature grew from big to bigger and now fans and critics are speaking in unison that he is the batsman in world cricket across all three formats of the game. Kohli’s record in limited-overs cricket is unbelievably spectacular. But, through his hardwork and dedication, he improved his technique for Test cricket and now he is the only Indian batsman to score 3 double-hundreds in a calendar year.

After his match-winning performance, in which he scored a double-hundred, in the fourth Test of the ongoing series between India and England, Virat Kohli credited his idol Sachin Tendulkar for his development, as a batsman, in Test cricket. Virat revealed that a piece of advice from the Little Master, that had nothing to with his technique, changed everything  for him in Test cricket.

“The best advice was not to read or look up things that were being said about me. I’m not joking or trying to be sarcastic. That was the best advice I got,”

“That was one thing that kept pulling me back as far as Test cricket is concerned,” Kohli added.

“Being captain took my mind more off those things because I had absolutely no time to read up or hear what people had to say about me.

“It was all about thinking about what the team has to do and that has helped me immensely to stay focused on what I have to do on the field,” the Test skipper said.
