Sri Lanka’s umpire Kumar Dharmasena is one of the best umpires in world cricket, but in the last two months or so, things haven’t gone down well for him. Dharmasena is on ICC’s Elite Panel but if his performance in the last two are considered then ICC will have to reconsider their decision.
It started in Bangladesh, in a Test series between Bangladesh and England, when Kumar Dharmasena gave wrong decisions throughout the series and because of the Decision Review System (DRS), his decisions were overturned by the third umpire almost every time. Kumar Dharmasena had repeated incidents for taking wrong decisions, be it the Bangladesh-England series or the India-England series.
Former Indian cricketer and now a Hindi commentator Virender Sehwag couldn’t hold himself back when Dharmasena carried on his bad form in the ongoing series between Australia and New Zealand. Dharmasena’s decision to give Australian captain Steve Smith out was overturned using DRS and Virender Sehwag couldn’t resist taking a dig at the Sri Lankan umpire.

As a result, #DharmasenaReviewSystem started trending on Twitter and people couldn’t stop poking fun on the matter.
