Pakistan have a history of producing world class fast bowlers. From Wasim Akram to Mohammad Amir, the fast bowling factory keeps unearthing special fast talents.

Recently, in a talent hunt organised by Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars, a very unorthodox talent – Yasir Jan, a 21-year-old quick who can bowl quick with his left hand, was spotted and now he has been put under professional training.

According to former Pakistan quick bowler, Aaqib Javed, who is now Qalandars’ head of cricket operations, the ambidextrous Yasir can bowl at “around 145kmph with his right arm and not less than 135kmph with his left arm”.

We have seen ambidextrous spinners in the past from Sri Lanka and India, but this is the time that we are seeing somebody who can bowl over 135 km/h with both his hands.

Yasir Jan became a star on social media after his pictures and videos went viral on the internet. Cricket lovers from across the world applauded Yasir’s unusual talent and they are hoping to see him play in the Pakistan Super League and also for Pakistan in future.

Yasir Jan hails from a small town situated 29km from Peshawar. He had moved to Islamabad at the age of 12, and worked in his family’s vegetable shop. Cricket had just been a “part-time passion.

Aaqib Javed was amazed at Yasir’s skills and this is what he had say about his talent:

“He was bowling with his right arm, but then he came to me and told me, ‘I can bowl with left arm too,’ which caught my attention,” Aaqib said at a press conference at the Lahore Press Club, where he introduced Yasir. “It was a surprise for me, because I have never seen anyone doing that. I have seen cricketers throwing with both arms, and even saw a bowler bowling spin with both arms, but this is someone extraordinary.”
