West Indies’ young fast bowler Alzarri Joseph made a cracking start to his Test career by claiming India’s skipper Virat Kohli’s wicket as his first Test wicket. Alzarri Joseph bowling a peach of a delivery to claim Virat’s wicket. It came back in and bounced a little more than Virat had expected.
In his third over, Alzarri Joseph got a fast and bouncy delivery to climb from short of a length and take the shoulder of Kohli’s bat where it flew to first slip for a straightforward catch. It was a moment that Alzarri Joseph will never forget. First Test wicket is always special, but it becomes unforgettable when your first Test scalp is a world class batsman like Virat Kohli.
During the U-19 World Cup we’d grown used to seeing batsmen ill-equipped and too slow to repel Joseph. But seeing high-quality Test batsmen in such a quandary is very different from watching 18-year-old Zimbabwean’s and Bangladeshi’s squirm. Watch Alzarri Joseph’s first Test wicket here:
