Although in test cricket we mostly see team crossing 300 runs or sometimes even reaching to the 500 runs mark but there have also been those incidents when a team couldn’t even manage to get to 50 runs,Today In this list we talk about the top 5 lowest scores in test cricket since the year 2000.

5) England 51 vs west Indies 2009

The 2009 test vs West Indies at Sabina Park, Jamaica saw England getting all out for their lowest ever score in test cricket,just 51 in their second innings. When England came to bat on the day four of the 1st test they were already trailed by 74 runs. One of the major reason for England getting allout for such a low score was the Local bowler Jerome Taylor who took 5 wickets for just 11 runs and was later deservingly given the man of the match.

4) Pakistan 49 vs South Africa 2013

In the first test match of the 3 match test series in South Africa,Dale Steyn claimed a five-wicket haul as Pakistan were bowled out for 49 runs, their lowest ever score in a Test, on Day 2 of the 1st Test match against South Africa at Johannesburg.
The tourists were bundled out in 29.1 overs with only two batsmen, Azhar Ali and Misbah-ul-Haq, registering double figures.
For the hosts, Dale Steyn ended with figures of 6 for 8 runs in 8.1 overs. Kallis and Philander picked two wickets each.

It was the second test of the 3 match test series at Kingston,England have had a narrow lead in the first innings and the second innings started on day four with WestIndies batting,  Stephen Harmison was given the bowl and he created carnage. With ferocious pace and disconcerting lift, the West Indian batsmen were split asunder. Harmison had 7 for 12 in 12.3 overs and England went ahead in the series.
Although there was no rain in sight with temperatures hitting almost 100 degrees, six ducks found their way into the innings, as the West Indies batsmen crumbled in dramatic style for just 49 runs.

They were reduced to 21 for nine at one stage before being dismissed for 47 by South Africa in the second innings of the first Test.
Australia escaped the ignominy of being bowled out for Test cricket’s lowest-ever score after they were reduced to 21 for nine before being dismissed for 47 by South Africa in the second innings of the first Test on a pacy Newlands track here.
The Aussies were staring down the barrel at 21 for nine when debutant Vernon Philander sent back Shaun Marsh, but the visitors avoided the dubious distinction when Peter Siddle’s edge off Philander went through the slip and gully for a boundary.
South Africa eventually bowled out the Aussies in 18 overs for the 10th lowest score in the history of Test cricket.

1) New Zealand 45 vs South Africa

The first in this list is New Zealand who were dismissed for just 45 runs in their first innings batting first having won the toss earlier,the Kiwis crumpled in a heap as Vernon Philander took five wickets for just seven runs. Kane Williamson was the only man to reach double figures as the Black Caps failed even to bat out the length of a Twenty20 innings. Morne Morkel picked up three wickets while Dale Steyn collected the other two as he reached 300 wickets in Test cricket.
