India defeated Bangladesh by 77 runs for a face-saving win in the third and final match of three match ODI series, at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. India’s captain MS Dhoni was at the receiving end after India conceded the series to Bangladesh after a very ordinary performance in the first two games of the series. MS Dhoni got very angry in the post-match press conference and offered to resign from the post of Indian captain. After this, Suresh Raina and Ravichandran Ashwin defended their captain and said MS Dhoni is the best man to lead Team India.
After winning the third ODI, Suresh Raina once again came out in defence of skipper MS Dhoni, clearly indicating that the team is not happy with the flak their captain is being subjected to after losing the series against Bangladesh.
“You can’t disrespect Dhoni. One series loss won’t make him a bad captain. He is mentally very strong, plays with a positive mind and knows his game,” Raina said when quizzed by the reporters.
“He is a good man, a good human being and a great captain,” Raina, who made 38 off 21 and took 3 for 45 in India’s win in the third ODI, said.
Raina also praised Dhoni’s move to bat at no. 4 and said his knock gave the team much needed confidence.
“Dhoni’s knock has given the team confidence. He took the responsibility and set the tone for us,” Raina said.
“Dhoni is very comfortable in the team. He is leading well…is very happy. He needs to be credited for the way he has handled the team over the last season,” Raina added.
