Virat Kohli Said India Lost Because Of Fielding But A Journalist From England Proved Him Wrong

The Indian cricket team was completely white-washed in the 3rd ODI on Tuesday in Auckland by the hands of the New Zealand cricket team who sealed the series by 3-0. The results broke expectations of many people, who wanted India to end the series with a positive note. However, Virat Kohli and co. failed to stop the hosts from chasing the total and suffered a thumping defeat.
While the Indian batsmen tried their best to give a big target to New Zealanders, on the other hand, the Indian bowling attack was left clueless after being smashed to all the corners by the New Zealanders as they handed Team India a rare series whitewash.
After the match, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli talked about what went wrong during the match that led Team India to the losing side. To which Virat claimed that New Zealand deserved this 3-0 because of their brilliant performance throughout. He also blamed poor fielding as one of the reasons for the same. He said:
“The games were not as bad as the scoreline suggests. Batsmen coming back from tough situations was a positive sign for us, but the way we fielded and bowled, the composure wasn’t enough to win games. Didn’t deserve to be on the winning side at all this series.”
But is fielding the real reason for India’s thumping defeat?

Well, social media is filled with different opinions stating the reasons for the Indian cricket team’s defeat against New Zealand. A popular journalist Freddie Wilde proved why Virat Kohli was wrong in blaming the fielders. Freddie via his Twitter explained how poor fielding wasn’t the reason behind India’s defeat. He wrote:

Fielding runs saved in the series (includes catches, run outs, stumping & stops & considers the difficulty of each event)

?? +1

?? -3

That’s a net positive of +4 runs for India.

Fielding is a convenient excuse but it is not the reason India lost the series.”
