1) INDIA’S FIRST ODI CAPTAIN PLAYED ONLY TWO ODIs

Former Indian captain Ajit Wadekar was the first One Day International (ODI) captain for India. But, Wadekar played only two ODI matches for India. Wadekar played in Prudential Trophy in England. In these two ODIs, Wadekar scored 73 runs at an average of 36.50. Indian lost both the matches by big margins.

2) WHO SCORED THE FIRST CENTURY IN TEST CRICKET FOR INDIA?

Lala Amarnath scored the first Test century for India. He scored his and India’s first Test century on 15th December 1933 against England.

3) WHO IS THE ONLY CRICKETER TO HAVE PLAYED, BOTH FOR ENGLAND AND INDIA?

The only cricketer to have played, both for England and India is Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi aka Nawab of Pataudi (Senior). The senior Nawab of Pataudi, Iftikhar Ali Khan, is the only Test cricketer to have played for both England and India. He played 6 Tests and scored 199 runs, including a hundred on his Test debut at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

4) WHICH INDIAN CAPTAIN BECAME THE YOUNGEST TEST CAPTAIN?

Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi of India aka Tiger Pataudi and the junior Nawab of Pataudi, became the youngest ever test captain at the age of 21. Tiger Pataudi is also one of the best captains in the history of Indian cricket.

5) WHICH WAS THE FIRST TEAM THAT INDIA DEFEATED IN WORLD CUP CRICKET?




East Africa was the first team that India defeated in World Cup cricket. In fact, East Africa was the only team that India had defeated in World Cup cricket before the 1983 World Cup.
