2014 has been an amazing year in cricket. In this article, we have listed some of the amazing records that we were in 2014.

Young Kiwi all-rounder Corey Anderson broke Shahid Afridi’s long-standing record of the fastest hundred in ODI cricket. Anderson played one of the most destructive knocks in the history of ODI cricket and scored a hundred off just 36 balls. After this knock, Anderson became an overnight sensation and IPL franchise owners were running after with millions of dollars, in the auction room.

Pakistani captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who is also called “tuk-tuk Misbah” for his slow nature of batting, equaled Sir Viv Richards’ record of the fastest 100 ever made in Test cricket. He also broke the record for the fastest 50 ever made along the way. It was a very special knock as Misbah silenced his critics in the most stylish manner.

India’s top order Rohit Sharma became the first player ever to score two double hundreds in ODI cricket. Rohit Sharma, who scored his first double hundred against Australia, played a marathon innings against Sri Lanka and scored 264 runs. Rohit also holds the record highest individual score in ODI cricket.

India’s all rounder Stuart Binny took the best figures for an Indian in an ODI with 6 wickets for 4 off only 4.4 overs. Binny showed great display of swing bowling and broke Anil Kumble’s long standing record of 6 wickets for 12 runs against West Indies.

New Zealand’s skipper Brendon McCullum became the first Kiwi batsman ever to score 1000 runs in a calender year. McCullum also broke the record of most sixes by a batsman in a calender year. McCullum smashed 33* sixes breaking the record of 22 sixes jointly held by Virender Sehwag and Adam Gilchrist.

In the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15, Steven Smith became the youngest Australian captain to score a hundred on his captaincy debut. At 25 years and 200 days, Smith is also the youngest captain in Australia’s Test history to hit a century.

7) AB de VILLIERS BROKE ADAM GILCHRIST’S RECORD OF MOST CONSECUTIVE TEST MATCHES SINCE DEBUT[/textmarker]

South Africa’s captain and arguably world’s best batsman at the moment, AB de Villiers broke Adam Gilchrist long-standing record of most number of consecutive Test since debut. In the Test series against West Indies, de Villiers played his 97th consecutive Test to break Adam Glichrist’s record.

8) MS DHONI BECAME THE FIRST INDIAN CAPTAIN TO SCORE EIGHT OR MORE DUCKS [/textmarker]

In the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15, MS Dhoni scored his eighth Test duck, making him the first Indian captain to score eight or more ducks. The previous Indian record was held by Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, who had failed to open his account on seven occasions as skipper.

9) VIRAT KOHLI NOW HOLDS THE RECORD FOR MOST RUNS BY A BATSMAN ON CAPTAINCY DEBUT  [/textmarker]

Virat Kohli scored twin hundreds in the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15 and broke break Graham Dowling’s (New Zealand) record of most runs by a batsman on captaincy debut. Virat Kohli finished the match with 256 runs to break Graham Dowling’s 244.

[textmarker color=”C24000″ type=”background color”]10) MS DHONI BROKE THE WORKD RECORD FOR MOST STUMPINGS IN INTERNATIONAL CRICKET [/textmarker]

With 134 stumpings to his name, Indian captain MS Dhoni now holds the world record for effecting the most number of stumpings in international cricket. The 33-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman overtook Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara when he stumped Mitchell Johnson off the bowling of off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the third Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15.
