IPL8: Everything you need to know about releases, transfers and squads

It was a day full of Indian Premier League (IPL) news. Many franchises released and retained players, and this led a lot of buzz in the social media. The biggest news of the day came when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced that they have released their most costliest player (in terms of money), Yuvraj Singh. 

Later, Delhi Daredevils also announced that they have decided to release four of their star players; Dinesh Karthik, Ross Taylor, Kevin Pietersen and Murali Vijay. Sunrisers Hyderabad also released many players, in fact, they released 10 players including the likes of Irfan Pathan, Aaron Finch, Darren Sammy and others.




In this article, we will look at shuffles and releases from all the IPL franchise. 

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS (CSK)

Chennai Super Kings’s fate in the IPL will be decided by the honorable Supreme Court of India. This IPL franchise has been alleged of fixing and corruption, and their future in the IPL is uncertain. But, like other franchises, CSK also made some changes in their squad.

RELEASE: Ben Hilfenhaus, John Hastings, Vijay Shankar and David Hussey




Some unconfirmed reports are also saying that MS Dhoni has said that he will not play in the IPL if CSK is terminated. 

 

DELHI DAREDEVILS (DD)

RELEASE: Kevin Pietersen, Dinesh Karthik, Murali Vijay, Jayadev Unadkat, Ross Taylor, Laxmi Ratan Shukla. Rahul Sharma, Wayne Parnell, J Neesham, Siddarth Kaul, Rahul Shukla, HS Sharath and Milind Kumar

 

KINGS XI PUNJAB (KXIP)

RELEASE:  Cheteshwar Pujara, L Balaji and Murali KartiK

 

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS (KKR)

RELEASE: Jacques Kallis, Debabrata Das and Sayan Mondal

TRANSFERS: Vinay Kumar to Mumbai Indians, Iqbal Abdulla to Royal Challengers Bangalore, Manvinder Bisla to Royal Challengers Bangalore 

 

MUMBAI INDIANS (MI)

RELEASE: Pragyan Ojha, Zaheer Khan, Jalaj Saxena, Ben Dunk, Apurva Wankhede, CM Gautam, Krishmar Santokie and Sushant Marathea

 

RAJASTHAN ROYALS (RR)

RELEASE: Brad Hodge, Kevon Cooper, Ankit Sharma, Amit Sharma and Ankush Bains

TRANSFER: Unmukt Chand to Mumbai Indians

 

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE (RCB)

RELEASE: Yuvraj Singh, Muttiah Muralitharan, Albie Morkel, Ravi Rampaul, Sachin Rana, Shadab Jakati and Tanmay Mishra

TRANSFER: Parthiv Patel to Mumbai Indians 

 

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD (SRH)

RELEASE: Amit Mishra, Aaron Finch, Darren Sammy, Irfan Pathan, Jason Holder, Venugopal Rao, Brendan Taylor, P Parameswaran, Anirudha S and Manprit Juneja

It is clearly visible in this report that all the IPL franchises have a made shift from players who are ageing and not playing international cricket for their nations regularly. But, having said this, there have been some shocking moves as well.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s move to release Aaron Finch and Darren Sammy came as a big shock as these two are match-winners in T20 format, and both of them have the experience of captaincy, as well.
