Most searched Indian sports personalities on Bing in 2014

Every year in December, Bing usually publishes the list of most searched personalities on their search engine. This list is prepared considering the trends from 10 countries including India.

In this piece, we have compiled the list of 10 most searched sports personalities in India. As expected, most of them are cricketers. In fact, seven out of them are cricketers.

Interestingly, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly dethroned Sachin Tendulkar to take the top spot. Tendulkar ranked second, followed by Virat Kohli and a surprise entry by Mary Kom.




India’s swashbuckling all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is number 6 in the world, followed by Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Another former Indian captain and a well known commentator Sunil Gavaskar is also in this list, at number 9. Sunil Gavaskar is known to have very firm and strong views on cricketing matters and he is always in the news for his statements. This year, Gavaskar was also made the interim head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), after N Srinivasan was asked to step down from his post.

Southpaw Shikhar Dhawan became an overnight sensation after his dashing debut in Test cricket at Mohali. Dhawan, who is known for his mustache and stylish conduct on the field, is a very important member of Team India in all three formats.

Tennis star Leander Paes is also in this list, at number 8. Leander is one of the best tennis players India has ever produced and he has a massive fan base in India.
