Happy Birthday, Phillip Hughes #63NotOutForever

It’s Phillip Hughes’ birthday. He would have been 26 today. 26 is a special number for Phillip Hughes.

– He played 26 matches for Australia

– He got his Baggy Green for his Test debut on February 26, 2009

– He scored 26 first-class centuries

Phillip Hughes’ tragic demise has left the entire cricketing world in a state of agony. In fact, not only cricket, but the entire sports fraternity has come together and united in praying for Phillip Hughes.

Australian captain and Phillip Hughes best mate Michael Clarke, wrote a moving birthday tribute to Phillip Hughes, calling him the brother he never had.

“His [Phillip Hughes] cricketing achievements – of which there were many – really play second fiddle to the human qualities that he exhibited,” wrote Clarke in Sunday Telegraph.

“Loyal to a fault, eternally optimistic, kind-hearted, wicked sense of humour, a child-like verve for life … I really could go on and on.”

Michael Clarke, during this time of acute despair, has given his teammates, Hughes’ family and all of us strength. Clarke also expressed his support for Sean Abbott.

“Sean, when you feel like getting back on the horse, mate, I promise you that I will be the first to strap on the pads and go stand up the end of the net to hit them back at you. It’s exactly what Hugh Dog would want us both to do.” wrote Clarke in Sunday Telegraph.

His friends and colleagues also took to Twitter to mark the occasion.

Happy bday bro. Will love you forever. It has been the hardest few days of my life.
