BCCI bigwigs were seemingly fuming after Dhoni’s ‘Fletcher is the boss’ comment, and they criticised Dhoni’s statement in the strongest possible manner by saying, “Dhoni is no one to comment as to who is the boss of the team.”
With all this confusion regarding who’s the supreme at the moment, reports are emerging that Duncan Fletcher and Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s role as Team India’s coach and captain respectively will be decided by Ravi Shastri.
Ever since the appointment of Shastri as Team India’s Director, the BCCI and Dhoni have been singing different tunes; BCCI says Shastri is the boss, Shastri says Dhoni is the boss, and Dhoni says Fletcher is the boss.
“After the tour, Shastri’s report will be the most critical document for us. If he observes Fletcher isn’t up to the mark, it won’t be far-fetched to say we will sack him. The same goes for Dhoni,” a senior BCCI official told Times of India, on the condition of anonymity.

This is a big development as far as Dhoni’s future as India’s captain is concerned. Dhoni has always had a very good relationship with the board, but his ‘Fletcher is the boss’ statement hasn’t gone down well with the BCCI.
Ravi Shastri was appointed to lift team’s morale, but it has distracted everyone’s attention away from the field, it seems. Ever since his appointment, we have been hearing a lot about ‘who’s the boss’ than ‘how to win the series.’ After this interview, it’s quiet clear that Ravi Shastri is the boss, and his reports will decide the future of Duncan Fletcher and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
At a time when Team India is struggling on the field, Indian cricket seems to be heading towards an unexpected Dhoni vs BCCI face-off.
