Sourav Ganguly As Team India Coach? YES!

By Aman Bhandari

We have already seen the worst phase of  Indian team under the coaching of Duncun Fletcher. I am not saying that Duncun Fletcher isn’t a good coach, he is really a great coach but for some reasons or the other , he has not been effective for the Indian team.

He took over  the baton from Gary Kirsten after Indian team won the won the world cup 2011 but since then we have been soft team as we lost the tests 4-0 in England and Australia .We also failed to win even a single game in England tour of 2011 and failed to reach the CB series finals in 2012 and even didn’t manage to reach the finals of asia cup 2012. All these were followed by a dismal performance against England at home when we lost 2-1 against England. The high point in the coaching of Duncun Fletcher came in the champions trophy in England where Indian team emerged victorious.

Why Duncan should be sacked??

After the recent tour full of disasters to South Africa and New Zealand Indian team again failed to reach the finals of the Asia cup for the second consecutive time. Thus the demands for the removal of fletcher is obvious

Who should be the new coach of team India

Now the question arises that who will replace Duncan if he is gone. As per my view he should be an Indian as the team now is going through a tough phase and the name that appears as the first choice is none other than Bengal tiger Sourav Ganguly.

Why Sourav Ganguly
Looking at the present scenario it seems that Indian team right now needs a coach who is respected a lot by the players of the team and has gone through the same phase and has conquered these kind of situations earlier. Sourav Ganguly was the captain of team India when Indian team was going through the worst phase ever of a team in the history. Sourav not only led the team forward but instilled the self-belief in the team that they can do it whatever the situation is and I think this is the quality that Indian team is lacking at the moment. There is no doubt on the quality of the players, they all are world class but they just need someone who can guide them and be an inspiration to them.  Also he is the best when it comes to handling the juniors and giving them an assurance of their spot in the team.

The way he brought aggression in the team in the early 21st century was remarkable and lets hope that good sense prevails on BCCI and they look after Indian cricket and make him the coach.
