Suryakumar Yadav shone brightly on Sunday at the MCG against Zimbabwe as he produced another classic Suryakumar Yadav innings, filled with class, panache, and jaw-dropping shot-making.
With the help of 6 fours and 4 sixes, Yadav walloped 61 unbeaten runs off just 25 balls, rumbling India from 101/4 in the 14th over to 186 by the end of the innings.
Such was the delirium that Suryakumar Yadav’s innings caused among fans that the news also traveled to the seldom-cricket-watching community of WWE superstars!
Drew McIntyre tweeted in praise of Suryakumar Yadav’s MCG knock

Drew McIntyre was the one who was also left astonished by Suryakumar Yadav’s mind-numbing havoc at the MCG. McIntyre landed in Mumbai on Sunday afternoon for a show, and was quick to praise Suryakumar Yadav as the “the best T20 player” currently after the batter had hammered the Zimbabwe bowlers all around the park.
“I’ve just touched down in Mumbai and Suryakumar Yadav has just proved he’s the best T20 player in the world right now. Destiny? Take a bow, Sky!” tweeted Drew McIntyre, the former WWE champion.

Suryakumar Yadav was named the Man of the Match for his majestic knock that helped India beat Zimbabwe by 71 runs. This win meant that India finished at the top of the Group 1; consequently, they will face the second-positioned team from the other group in the semi-final – England – in Adelaide on November 10. The first semi-final, between New Zealand (topper of Group 1) and Pakistan (second in group 2) will be on November 9 in Sydney. The final is slated for November 13, Sunday, at the MCG.
Suryakumar Yadav is the leading run-scorer in T20Is in 2022 and is the only one to amass over 1000 T20I runs this year. It is a great feat considering he bats at number 4; it will blow your mind that he’s scored these runs – 1026 – at a strike rate of 186!
India captain Rohit Sharma highlighted how Suryakumar’s Yadav belligerent form helps other batters around him.
“What he’s doing for the team is remarkable. Playing and taking pressure off batsmen as well – it’s quite important from team’s perspective. We know his ability and it allows the other guys to take some time as well. The confidence he shows when he bats, the dug-out can be at ease. He’s shown a lot of composure. This is something that we expect from him and he’s gone from strength to strength,” Sharma said.
