Pakistan kicked off the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 campaign with a defeat at the hands of team India. Following this, they suffered a shocking narrow defeat against Zimbabwe. The Pakistan cricket team now has 2 wins from 4 matches.

After Pakistan’s embarrassing defeat against Zimbabwe, it looked like Pakistan might find it very difficult to find a place in the semi-final however they have managed to make a comeback. The Men in Green defeated the Netherlands in its third tie and has now pulled off another win against the ‘favorites’ South Africa. This win over South Africa has increased Pakistan’s chances of making it to the knockout fixture, given that the results of other teams also go their way.

Meanwhile, there is a question that has been going on in everyone’s minds and that is, has Pakistan’s win against South Africa impacted India’s semi-final chances?

Well, the only thing that the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team needs to do in order to qualify for the semi-final and finish at the top spot in the points-table after is to defeat Zimbabwe on Sunday. However, the doors won’t be closed for India even if they lose.

But yes, Pakistan’s win against South Africa has had an impact on India’s semi-final chances as it has delayed their journey to the semi-final.

India can miss out on the semi-final spot if they lose to Zimbabwe and at the same time, Pakistan and South Africa win their last Super12 matches. In this case, India will remain at 6 points and  South Africa and Pakistan will have 7 and 6 points each, respectively. Pakistan has a better NRR than India. However, the good thing for the Indian fans is that Pakistan and South Africa will play their last Super12 game before the Men in Blue. Hence, team India will already know their fate even before entering the contest.
