“Ye Spinner Tha Ki Batsman”: Shahid Afridi Replies To Amit Mishra’s “This Too Shall Pass” tweet for Babar Azam

Once the most in-form batsman in the world, things have turned upside down for Babar Azam as the Pakistani captain has failed to go past single digits in three outings so far in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.

Against the Netherlands on Sunday, Babar could only manage 4 runs before running himself while out looking for a quick single.

Before this latest cheap score, Babar was handed a golden duck by India’s Arshdeep Singh, and in the second game against Zimbabwe, Brad Evans had him for 4 runs, a leading edge popping to the point fielder.

Babar’s failures with the bat have been pronounced because of Pakistan’s losses to India and Zimbabwe. And South Africa defeating India meant that Pakistan are all but out of the semi-final race; barring an upset, such as India losing to Bangladesh or Zimbabwe, Pakistan will take a flight back home after the group stage.

As netizens trolled and mocked him for his lean patch, veteran India spinner Amit Mishra, a renowned personality and someone who’d played international cricket for a decent amount of time, decided to mock Babar using Babar’s tweet for Virat Kohli back in July.

Wasim Akram's Bold Advice to Babar Azam After Loss vs Zimbabwe in T20 World Cup | Cricket News

“This too shall pass. Stay strong @babarazam258,” Amit Mishra tweeted.

While Babar’s tweet was a sincere wish for Virat Kohli to return to form, Mishra clearly was taking a dig and making a derogatory remark toward the captain of the Pakistan cricket team.

This too shall pass. Stay strong @babarazam258. 🙏🏽

Shahid Afridi trolls back Amit Mishra in his style

Former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi was asked of his reaction to Amit Mishra’s tweet while speaking with SamaaTV. First, Afridi asked if Amit Mishra was a bowler or a batsman, suggesting Mishra isn’t a big enough cricketer to be remembered by him, before politely asking that everybody moves on.

“Ye jo aap naam le rahe hain Amit Mishra, ye bhi India se khela hua hai. Ye spinner tha ki batsman tha? (This name you’re taking, Amit Mishra, he has also played for India. Was he a spinner or a batsman?),” said Afridi to Samaa TV. “Koi baat nahi. Chalein aage. This too shall pass. (Don’t worry. Let’s move on),” he added.

South Africa, who have 5 points in 3 matches, and India, who have 4 points in 3 matches and will face Bangladesh and Zimbabwe next, are the two favorites from Group 2 to reach the semis.
