In less than a month and a half, one of the biggest cricketing extravaganzas will be unfolding ahead of us as the T20 World Cup 2022 is all set to be played Down Under in late October.
Various talents across the globe will be duking it out in the land of Roos to decide the fate of the world’s crown in the shortest format of the game. However, the road to the final is a long and perilous one and all the teams will be hoping that they have someone to look up to.
Here are the top 5 players to watch out for in T20 World Cup 2022.
#1 Virat Kohli
Virat’s return to runs in the recently concluded Asia Cup is a direct indicator of the fact that he is going to lead the showdown for India with the bat in his hands. Needless to say, but he can be easily India’s finest bet given the perfect fit for the bouncy Australian surfaces. He has again started playing those shots that once seemed lost.
More importantly, he is middling the ball way too frequently and has managed to get on top of the ball. It is also a refreshing sight to see him vary his strokes when the ball is pitching slightly outside the off-stump instead of those stale attempts to drive. After a successful Asia Cup, T20 World Cup 2022 will be another big extravaganza for Virat to proliferate.
#2 David Warner
The Australian southpaw is a natural attacker of the cherry and given his home conditions, he won’t be holding back from his strokes. He is going to open the innings for Australia in the T20 World Cup 2022 that gives him most of the time to bring out those hard strikes and accept it or not, his experience is too vast to be denied a handful of eyes.
#3 Jos Buttler
The man has been in the midst of terrific form ever since his IPL and he continues with his glory days. He won’t be holding back his punches and if he gets going for England, bazball will be a thing in world cricket, especially in the format for which it was made. He has been pretty fluent with his shots and would be hoping to carry on with the flow as England would be desperate to leave a mark, in the T20 World Cup 2022.
#4 Trent Boult
The southpaw hasn’t been at the prime of his bowling figures but the Australian surfaces are tailor-made for the man. He can move the ball, he can create bounce and more importantly he can kiss the deck hard at a good 145 plus clicks. The new ball will be working out wonders for the experienced Kiwi campaigner only if he is getting his line and length correct.
#5 Shaheen Shah Afridi
Even though his availability is subjective, yet if he plays this tournament, Pakistan will be breathing a huge sigh of reprieve. Afridi has raw pace that can easily go upto 150 clicks and with that much of steam behind the ball on a surface where it has always been hostile for the batters, the Pakistani quick can grab a lot of attention.
